The Sierra Destination is a line of destination trailers built by Forest River, the recreation-vehicle manufacturer owned by Berkshire Hathaway. A destination trailer is a large, park-model-style towable designed for extended or seasonal stays on a single site. Unlike a conventional travel trailer you tow from place to place, a Sierra Destination is meant to be set up once and largely left in place — on a seasonal campsite, a lake lot, a resort pad, or private land.
These are sizable units, typically 40 feet and longer, with residential touches like full-height windows, larger kitchens, and patio-style living areas. Because of their size and power needs, they generally require a 50-amp electrical service and a long, level pad. They are not weekend-hauler trailers; they are closer to a seasonal cabin on a chassis.
The Sandpiper Destination Sister Line
Here is the single most important thing to understand about the Sierra Destination, and the reason this independent guide exists: it is Forest River’s sister line to the Sandpiper Destination. The two share the same platform and the same floorplans. They differ mainly by badge, by the region they are marketed in, and by which dealer network carries them.
If you put a Sierra Destination and a Sandpiper Destination of the same floorplan side by side, you are looking at essentially the same coach. The floorplan codes overlap directly — 389HBFL, 396RKLR, 41DUPLEX, and 422FKL appear under both names. That makes the two lines genuinely cross-shoppable. A buyer who fixates on one badge may pay more, or wait longer, than necessary when the identical unit sits on another lot under the other name.
