Buying Advice

How to Shop a Sierra (or Sandpiper) Destination

We don’t sell these trailers, so this advice is purely in your interest as a buyer. The recurring theme of this site applies most directly here: because the Sierra Destination and the Sandpiper Destination are the same coach, smart shopping means treating both badges as one search.

1. Confirm the Floorplan Code

Start with the exact floorplan code, not the marketing name. The shared lineup includes 389HBFL, 396RKLR, 41DUPLEX, and 422FKL. The code defines the actual layout; the badge does not. Once you know the code you want, you can search for that identical unit under either name.

2. Compare Cross-Badge Pricing

The same floorplan can carry different asking prices depending on whether it wears the Sierra or Sandpiper badge, and on which dealer holds it. Pull pricing on the identical code under both names before you anchor on any one number. This single step is where badge-blind shoppers most often overpay.

3. Inspect Thoroughly

Walk the unit carefully. Check the roof and all sealant seams, run every slide in and out, test the 50-amp electrical and all appliances, look for any sign of past water intrusion (soft spots in the floor, staining, musty smell), and operate the plumbing. For a unit you intend to live in seasonally, a professional pre-purchase RV inspection is well worth the cost.

4. Verify Your Site Can Support It

Before you buy, confirm your destination can actually take the trailer: 50-amp service, a long and level pad, and full utility hookups. Confirm delivery logistics too — these are large units and placement is a real job.

5. Negotiate

Because identical inventory exists under two badges across multiple dealers, you have leverage. Use the cross-badge price comparison as your reference, be willing to look at both names and multiple sellers, and don’t let the badge talk you out of a better deal on the same coach.
